Apple Store
All of our tech guys went to lunch yesterday. Afterward we went to the Apple Store, just a few doors down. This is one of the smaller Apple Stores, but it sure was laid out nicely. And Of course, there were iPads everywhere. I got to play with one for a little while. They really are a cool device. Apple has a nice lineup of stuff, something for most everybody.

Apple posted it’s quarterly profits today, $3 billion dollars! Can you believe it? This is one totally inflation proof company. Check out the details here. Very impressive.

Backup?
I know I have talked about backups a ton of times, but as far as I am concerned one can’t be too careful. Case in point, a good friend of mine just got a brand new MacBook Pro 17″ for Christmas, the one with the glossy screen.
Old Windows Habits
I love talking to switchers, especially when they have used the Mac for a while and they finally get it. But, a frequent occurrence in the switcher phenomenon are people who just continue to think like they are using Windows.
RAM
When it comes to Macs some people just refuse to get it. They either buy this fantastic computer and don’t have a clue what to do with it or they get the most basic model they can and try to do more than it is equipped for. Then when you try to advise them what they need to do to make their machine work like it should, they refuse to listen because they think you are trying to up sell them. Case in point.
Etimology of a Mac User
I have written about this before. Working for a retail Mac store like I do I come into contact with all kinds of Mac users, from power users, novices and people who have no clue no matter what kind of computer they are using.
Mac Users – Yikes!
Over the years as a Mac user (got my first Mac in 1987) and a Mac tech support person I have come across all kinds of users. From the “power user” to the complete novice. It is interesting to work with people and their Macs. Frequently I end up learning things through assisting others. But, there has always been something that has amazed me about certain Mac users.
New Job
Hey folks, for the last few months I have been out of work and looking for a new Mac Tech job. Well, yesterday I was hired on full-time by a Mac Specialist in my community. Although I am very familiar with Mac Tech Support I am still going to be learning a ton of new stuff over the next few weeks. That brings me to Macessence. I will try to post as much as I can, but it may be hit and miss. I hope you will bear with me. I really enjoy doing Macessence, but it may be a little lean for a bit. Hang in there with me.

4th of July
Have a great 4th of July weekend and I will see you all again on Monday.
Future of the Mac
As you can see I have been a Mac Dude for many years. There have been some frustrations along the way, but overall I have really had a wonderful time learning and keeping up with Mac hardware and software. I wouldn’t trade my Mac experiences for anything on the Windows side of things that is for sure.
