On The Way
My copy of iLife ’09 family pack is on the way. It should be here next week. I have been reading about some of the features and install suggestions. I am really anxious to play with it. Looking forward to putting my woodworking blog on a “normal” FTP web site with iWeb and remove it from my .Mac account. It works fine on .Mac, but I can’t do stuff like check site visits and other statistics. I will let you know how the install goes.

G4 Tower MDD
My jump into linear video editing pushed me into a Power Mac G4 Mirror Drive Door (MDD) tower. This was quite an improvement over the Beige G3. It was the top of the line machine of it’s day when I bought it, running Dual Processors (DP) at 1.4 GHz. This was a really good video editing machine.
Beige G3

Because of my continued “need for speed” and video editing projects I moved from the PowerPC 7100 to the Power Macintosh G3, also known as the “beige” G3, the “gray” box and/or the “platinum” G3. It came in a desktop and mini tower configuration. I got the mini tower.
iLife ’09

Apple states that iLife ’09 will ship tomorrow. That is super. Today I went onto Amazon and spent the $75 gift certificate that my friend gave me for Christmas for the Family Pack. Then, I can install it on the iMac and our MacBook. Many times I will sit out in the living room with the MacBook and do blog articles, like right now. I am really looking forward to using the new and improved iMovie ’09. I am even looking forward to the improvements to iWeb.

Power Mac 7100
About the time I felt I needed a more powerfull Mac, Apple released the Power Macintosh 7100 Desktop machine. This was one of the first machines with the new PowerPC chip from Motorola. Initially, there were three models, a 6100, 7100 and 8100. I bought the middle model, the 7100. As usual, it cost an arm and a leg.
LC III
My Mac history finally evolved to the need for color capabilities. At the time it was either get a more home oriented, consumer machine or go all out for a very pricey Macintosh II system that I really could not afford. The logical choice for me was the LC III. These machines were also sold as some type of Performa series.
Quicktime 7.6
Apple released an updated version of Quicktime with improvements and security fixes. I have installed it on my two machines, all is working well. However, Quicktime is such an integral part of the Mac OS there usually are problems with upgraded versions.
Mac 25th
Over the next few weeks anyone who is a Mac aficionado will be writing stories on the Mac. Why? This is the 25th birthday of the Macintosh computer which was revealed in 1984. In keeping with this Mac celebration I want to reveal a little of my history on the Mac in a few articles.
RAM Upgrade
Today I installed some RAM in a friends white, Intel iMac. It took less than 10 minutes. I don’t know if you have ever changed any RAM on an iMac or not, but the instructions are right on the bottom of the pedestal. A RAM upgrade on an iMac is definitely a “user” installable item.
Keychain Fix
Recently a friend asked me to up the RAM on her white Intel iMac and install a new printer. The HP all-in-one printer install went fine and so did the RAM. But there was a problem with her machine.
