iTunes 9.0.2
It seems a few people are having trouble updating to iTunes 9.0.2. The trouble seems to be with updating through Software Update. I updated this way and all is well, but others are having issues with the update completing. The fix seems to be to download iTunes 9.0.2 from the Apple website and install it standalone.

27″ iMac
We got a couple in at my work. My very quick observations are they are very heavy, they are huge. The screen is beautiful, very vivid color and crystal clear. They are fast, but I only worked on the Intel Core 2 Duo model, the quad cores will be out in a couple of weeks. I upgraded one that we had to 8 GB of RAM (four RAM slots, whoa). The bottom line: I want one!! Going to have to wait a couple of years though.

iTunes 9 mp3 Conversion
A guy came into my work the other day wanting to convert some of his music to mp3 format. He was in a band and wanted to send a few of his songs to some music people. As hard as I looked in iTunes 9 I couldn’t find any settings that did that like in iTunes 7 and 8. After he left I did a little research and discovered the following.
Time Machine in SL

Have you noticed that Time Machine backups are a lot faster in Snow Leopard. That was a ‘feature’ that Apple mentioned in the Snow Leopard advertising I believe. I would say that my Time Machine backups are at least twice as fast as Leopard. I think there is a little hit on the CPU when Time Machine is backing up so the faster it gets done the better.

RAM
When it comes to Macs some people just refuse to get it. They either buy this fantastic computer and don’t have a clue what to do with it or they get the most basic model they can and try to do more than it is equipped for. Then when you try to advise them what they need to do to make their machine work like it should, they refuse to listen because they think you are trying to up sell them. Case in point.
Apple Quarterly Profit
Check out this article on Apple’s profit for last quarter. 1.67 billion dollars is absolutely amazing. These guys are unstoppable. And, they are doing it without any government bailout money. Wow.
