I just signed up for a faster Internet connection from my service provider. I really like the download speeds, much improved. But, I still have a gripe with all the stuff that is encoded into people’s web pages.
iPhoto Rebuild
I know I have said this before, but every once in a while it is a good idea to rebuild the iPhoto library file. Especially if you have a ton of photos. Things can get a little corrupted and so forth. So how do you rebuild the iPhoto library?
Odds and Ends
Just a few observations after being back at my former employer for a month or so. It is a corporate environment so we use the Exchange Server. The Mac people use Office 2008 which means Entourage for email.
Tools
One of the things I learned about at my retail Mac job is what kind of tools you need to repair Macs and what qualifies for quality tools. I am very grateful for that knowledge. So, why do I bring this up?
iMac LCD
The company where I work has several older aluminum iMacs, about 2007 vintage. A few things are starting to go out on them. Today we replaced the LCD on one, and it went great.
Snow Leopard Archive & Install
Not really. I have done several re-installs of Snow Leopard since it’s release. The one thing I miss from previous versions of the Mac OS is the Archive and Install feature.
Phone Setup
I do not own an iPhone or iPod Touch. However, I may be getting a Touch to use in my position at work. Recently, I have been privileged to setup a couple of iPhones at work. What a pleasure! We usually set it up on the Exchange Server and then people can setup other email accounts as well. It really is easy if you know what info to put where. A very cool machine. Maybe some day I will own one.

DVD’s Mounting
This is a pretty good article with some simple fixes if you are having trouble mounting CD’s or DVD’s in the Finder on your Mac. Check it out.

Entourage Boo Boo
Because we use Office 2008 at work we use Entourage as the email client. Not the greatest email client in my opinion, but it is free. Every once in a while a user will call up and say the menus at the top of the window are missing. This happens more often than you would imagine.
Services menu
I am using the Services menu more and more in Snow Leopard. There are some cool Services built into the contextual menus. Here is an article on how to turn on a couple of features in the Services menu. It is easy to do and adds one more weapon in your desktop arsenal.
