ClickToFlash

I just signed up for a faster Internet connection from my service provider. I really like the download speeds, much improved. But, I still have a gripe with all the stuff that is encoded into people’s web pages.

As far as I can tell, half the grief comes from Flash objects in websites. Almost every time I go to a website I am waiting for some type of Flash to draw. I guess I am just a little tired of it so I started looking for some way to block the Flash stuff. Enter ClickToFlash Safari plugin.

This is donationware. You can download it for free, but they would appreciate a donation. I downloaded it a couple of days ago and installed it on my iMac running 10.6.2. It works like a charm. I have been using it for a few days and have had no problems. When I go to a site with Flash it just shows a placeholder that says “Flash” in place of the Flash object. If I want to see it all I have to do is click on it and it will display. Very cool.

I highly recommend this little plugin if your are tired of websites drawing slow Flash. It works great and I don’t feel like I am really missing anything. If I really, really want to see the Flash on a website I can.
