Troubleshooting Apple Mail
If you have occasional trouble with Apple Mail hanging and not shutting down like I do you might want to read this troubleshooting article. It is pretty thorough. I have already performed a few of the fixes mentioned. Sure can’t hurt any.

Apple Mail Etiquette
Email is an absolute necessity for most of us. This is a great article on simple “rules” for email and some helpful ideas on how to use Apple’s Mail app more effectively. It is worth a read if for no other reason than the section on Bcc.

Mac Backup Strategy
If you have been into computers long you know that having a backup plan is a quintessential piece of the pie. Backup strategies at home are fairly straight forward. But, when you get into a corporate environment, it can get complicated.
New MacBook Pro
It is really fun to see the look on the face of a PC server guy when he gets a brand new MacBook Pro 15″ unibody laptop. These are diehard PC guys but they still are impressed with this sweet machine. The MacBook Pros really are a work of art when you just sit back and look at them. They even do well despite being on the screwed up Active Directory mess that most corprations use.

Permissions
In the old days, before we understood OS X a little better, Mac users thought running “Permissions” would solve any problem on their Mac. Not so of course. Yesterday, I performed another Mac to Mac clone using CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner).
MacBook Pro Clone
The other day I was working on a Powerbook that was “acting up”. I checked it out with one of my favorite programs, Drive Genius from Prosoft Engineering. What did it tell me?
File Associations
This is a nice little article about how to change file associations in Leopard and Snow Leopard. The example they use, opening PDF’s, is perfect. I always change the machines I am using to open PDF’s in Apple’s Preview app. I can’t stand Adobe Reader.

Mac Repair
I work on Pee Cees most of every day. But, I get the privilege of working on Macs from time to time. Today was PC grief most of the day except for this window where my partner and I got to replace a keyboard on a MacBook Pro. It really was fun, challenging, but fun.

Freeway Update
I am glad that I happened to mention that Freeway Pro 5.5 is a “preview” version. It still is a little buggy. Sometimes cut and paste comes up with an error and it is generally somewhat slow. Maybe it is just my system, we will see. More to follow as I upgrade my sites from the 5.0 version to 5.5.

Freeway Pro 5.5
Softpress just released a preview version of Freeway Pro 5.5. It is a $50 upgrade, but it appears to be worth the dinero. I just downloaded it and have played with it a little.
