I have stuck with 1Password from agilebits for all my password and online data management. It is just a super reliable App which works across all Apple platforms. Recently, the 1Password people released an update which has completely revamped the 1Password Mini feature. 1Password Mini lives in your menubar for quick access to items in the actual 1Password App. It is super handy, but now it is even more useful.
Sometimes you need to get into the main 1Password App. However, most of my needs are taken care of by the new 1Password Mini drop screen. Here is what the new Mini looks like:
I will have to do some blurring out of passwords and other info, but I think you get the idea. It lists the accounts on the left, just like in 1Password and it lists the account information on the right. There is a lot of stuff going on in the main window.
The Mini browser defaults to listing “All Items”. If you need not see “All Items”, you can select one area such as Logins from that drop-down menu:
Do you need to create a new password? Click the New Password button and it provides you with one in the next window:
Normally, 1Password Mini stays in your menubar. However, you can detach it from the menubar if you wish to keep it open:
You then have a floating window to move around on your screen.
If you have a ton of passwords, it is much easier to do a Search for what you need than to scroll through a very long list:
The 1Password people have added some nice touches to the Mini window in this update. You can now drag and drop the Username and Password fields onto the login page in your browser. Double-clicking the actual item name in the left column will do an auto fill, but the drag-and-drop thing is cool.
The folks at agilebits have improved 1Password under the hood. The website parser engine is much refined, it just works better along with most of the rest of the program. You can go here for more information on what they updated and improved.
The ‘new & improved’ 1Password App is super powerful. Along with the new Mini viewer, it is the Go-To password and online data management system of choice. If you are not using a password manager, I highly recommend 1Password, they have a free trial version.
