If you are into any kind of website design at all you probably use a Contact Form at times. I have used a couple different website design programs that have a Contact Form feature. However, for whatever reason, sometimes the form does not work or stops working. The best way around this is to use a third party form generator off the web.
There are tons of sites like WuFoo that offer several different online forms that collect all kinds of data. Some of these sites are free, some require a small fee. If you need sophisticated form functionality you should find and use one of these sites. However, if you just need a simple Contact Form for your website then I highly recommend FoxyForm. FoxyForm offers a very simple setup for a basic Contact Form and it is free. Here is how it works.
When you navigate to the website you will see this page (this picture is pretty small so click on the image to see it full size):
The site is pretty self-explanatory. Just decide which fields you want on your form, tweak the way it looks, enter the “Target” email (where you want the contact information to go) and then authenticate. Yes it is a pain to authenticate but it is an anti spam measure. Once you are finished then click on “Create Formular” and you will be taken to this screen:
FoxyForm prepares the proper HTML code for your site which includes the “Target” email account. You then have to copy the code in that window and paste it into your website. If you, like me, are not a hand coder look for a way to place the HTML code into your website. Most website design programs now days have a feature or command that allows you to “Embed” HTML code into your site web page. Also, FoxyForm sends you the code in an email. You can save it if you have to move the form or redo your site.
When I generated my Contact Form code I copied it and pasted it into an “HTML” item in my design program which produced this form on my Contact Page:
You can see that it does have the “I’m not a robot” feature. Yes, putting in those stupid, weird looking characters is a pain, but if you don’t then little tiny robots than scan the web will send you advertisement spam using your Contact Form.
If you need a simple form for a website I highly recommend FoxyForm. Mine is working great, no problems at all. You can’t beat free either.
