I kind of stumbled across this the other day while cruising around on my iMac. We all have an Apple ID, maybe more than one. You can see your Apple ID info in various places on your Mac, but the most comprehensive listing is in the iCloud Preference Pane.
Apple ID – The Details
Please understand, I have had to redact a bunch of info on these screenshots for obvious privacy reasons. If you go into your iCloud Pref Pane you should get a window similar to this one:
If you click on “Account Details” you will be taken to a series of drop down tabs starting with who you are, just in case you forgot:
Here is the deal. When you go into the “Account Details” area you are seeing how Apple sees you! This is the information they have on file for you. It is not a bad idea just to see what is in here folks. Now, if you click on the “Contact” tab you get a bunch of emails and other personal information, much of which I have redacted (hey, I am not telling you how ancient I am!):
If you click on the “Security” tab you get some info about Two-Factor Authentication and your Trusted Phone Numbers:
The next tab, “Devices”, is pretty interesting. It shows you all the Devices that Apple associates with you:
This would be a good place to see if you have removed old Devices (iPhones, iPads, etc.) from your Apple Account. If there are Devices that you no longer own you can login to your Apple Account and remove them. If you click on a Device, some information is provided to the right:
The last tab is “Payment” information. You pretty much have to have an credit card linked to your Apple ID:
If you don’t like what information is in the Account Details you can change it, at least some of it.
This is not exactly an earth shattering discovery, but it would not be a bad idea to just take a look in the Apple ID Account Details area to see what is there. Just trying to prevent any surprises later on.
