On occasion I will download a show from Netflix onto my iPad for offline viewing. This works especially well if I am traveling. Lets face it, the Wi-Fi in most motels is not the greatest. If you want to download shows off Netflix for offline viewing then read on my friends.
Obviously, you begin by having the Netflix App on your iPad (you can do this with an iPhone as well). If you don’t have it, go to the App Store and install it. I am assuming you have a Netflix account, of course.
Open the Netflix App and login, then tap on the menu icon in the upper left corner of the screen:
This drops down a menu with all kinds of stuff in it. Scroll down and select “Available for Download”:
The App produces several movies and TV shows to choose from:
My experience is that some of the these shows ARE downloadable and some ARE NOT downloadable. So, how do you tell the difference? You have to tap on the show. Once you get to the next screen you should see the Download icon:
When you tap on the Download icon, the show downloads to your iPad:
Obviously, you can only download shows that you have enough space to accommodate on your device. It is not a big deal to download a few shows for a trip you are taking and then delete them when you are done. To delete a show you open that same menu as before, select “My Downloads” for a list of your downloaded shows. There is a checkmark to the right of each show. Just tap on the checkmark and it produces a “Delete” option.
If for any reason you need to watch Netflix shows in offline mode on your iPad or iPhone, it is easy to do. Just be sure to delete them when you are finished, they do take up a lot of space.
