The iPad OS has some very cool multitasking features. I do not use them all the time, but when I do it is very helpful. One thing I learned to do is to view two Emails side by side. I usually do this to compare something in one of the Emails with another Email. Here is one way of doing this if you think it might be useful.
iPad OS Split View
iPad OS has Split View which allows you to have two Apps open at the same time on your screen side by side. This is a handy feature. But you can have two windows from a single App open side by side as well. This might be super useful in the Safari web browser, here is what it looks like in the Mail App.
You need to have the Mail App main window open in iPad OS:
What I am going to do is tap on the Edison Email and drag it to the right of the screen. This short video will demonstrate this better than any explanation I can provide:
Once the Email you have chosen is on display to the right of the window, just tap on the comparison Email in the left side of the window and they are side by side. When you are finished tap on “Done” in the upper right corner of the right side Email. That is all there is to it.
Here are some of the things you can drag to a new window in iPad OS:
- Email addresses
For example, if you drag a PDF attachment from an Email to the side of the current window, it will open in your default PDF App in the right side of the window. There are all kinds of combinations how to use this feature, my Email example is just one of many.
You can use this side by side feature to compare all kinds of files in iPad OS 13. If you are doing actual work on an iPad and not just some web surfing, this feature may help your workflow.
