System Preferences Made Easy

Ever since macOS Catalina came out I have been very frustrated with the way System Preferences is displayed. They moved several Preferences to different locations and I always have trouble finding stuff. I am sure there is some logical ordering of things, but it does not work for me. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem.

System Preferences View

macOS Catalina System Preferences default to “Category View”. For some reason I just can’t get my head around these categories:

System Preferences

If this is an issue for you, then do the following. With System Preferences open click on the “View Menu” and select Organize Alphabetically:

Organize Alphabetically

Your System Preferences will look like this:

Preferences Alphabetically

Now, this may take a little getting used to, but we are so used to visualizing things Alphabetically it should be pretty natural.

This is the way I have my System Preferences organized going forward. It is easier for me, but YMMV.
