Big Sur & Catalina Accent Color

I was experimenting with things in macOS Big Sur the other day. I continue to marvel at its colorfulness. One thing that jumped out to me was the bright colors in System Preference windows (and others). Then I realized this was the same in macOS Catalina, although not quite as colorful. This feature is controlled by the “Accent Color” in System Preferences. You probably already know this, but here is how you change the “Accent Color” to change the overall appearance on your Mac.

Accent Color

You can change the “Accent Color” in the General System Preference Pane.

Mine is currently set to Orange. Here is the General Accent Color set to Green.

Here is what that looks like in the General Safari Preference window in Big Sur.

This is the Safari window with the green Accent Color.

I think you are getting the picture. So, why am I bringing this up now? I guess this drew my attention because colors are so much brighter and in your face in macOS Big Sur.

This is no big deal. If you don’t like the look and feel of the windows in your macOS, you can change them to a color that is more pleasing.
