macOS Big Sur Pin Messages

The Messages App in macOS Big Sur has received some nice new features. One of those is the ability to “Pin” a conversation to the top area of the Messages App. How would you use this feature? I use it if I am having an ongoing discussion with someone. I also use it if I wish to save some information in a texting session for later use. You may find other uses for pinning. Here is how you use this feature.

Pin Messages

I don’t have an example to show you of several message feeds in the Messages App. Suffice it to say, you just have to locate the particular message in the Messages App sidebar. You “Pin” the message by right-clicking on it.

Pin Command

Then select “Pin” from the dropdown menu. A pinned message looks like this.

Pinned Message

If you click on the persons message icon in the sidebar, it just shows the continuing text of that message. To unpin a message just right-click on the image and select “Unpin”. That is all there is to it.

I am sure there are other reasons to use the message Pin feature than the ones I listed. I think pinning in Messages just makes the App that more useful and versatile.
