In keeping with the whole idea of Privacy and Security I thought I would mention a way you can increase your privacy quotient on your Mac. That involves the Analytics & Improvements area in System Preferences. Here is what you can do in Analytics & Improvements to add a little privacy to your Mac.
Analytics & Improvements
The Analytics & Improvements settings are activated or not activated during the setup of the Mac computer. You can turn them on or off after initial Mac setup in the Security & Privacy System Preference Pane area.
When you arrive in this area, you should see a window similar to this one.
Scroll down until you see “Analytics & Improvements” in the sidebar.
The Analytics & Improvements settings appear in the right-side of the window. I think most people allow sharing of Mac Analytics and other information during setup or installation of the macOS. I am one of those people, but I have been rethinking that. Go ahead and read what information is being shared and tracked here. If this does not bother you, then no worries. As far as I am concerned, I have decided to turn off all this information.
Yes, I know some of this data might be useful to Apple or Developers. I am sure they will use it honorably1. But, I just don’t want any more of my information out there that can be helped.
This may not be totally necessary, but as far as I am concerned it cannot hurt. YMMV of course, just do what works for you.
